How many FTEs does it take to man the database?

Data is captured in the database in a quarterly fashion. We recommend that only a couple of people import data into the database. This is not an 8-hour-a-day/5-day-a-week position.

How does the database handle low volume/no volume physicians?

A default zero for any “rule” based indicators has been created in the database. The physician may not have any data, but the relevancy of the indicator is reflected based on the default zero.

Yes, the database is designed to categorize indicators into a structure (i.e., JCAHO core competencies). The end user can also generate the physician feedback reports on a biannual basis for every physician on the medical staff.
